Get told when a build ends
Start a build and do something else. Crisp tells you when it is ready, when it needs your answer, or when it stopped: in the tab title, with a notification or a sound, and by email when the project is closed.

On this page
A bigger build can take a few minutes. You do not have to watch it. Go to another tab, or close the project: Crisp tells you when there is something to see.
While the project is open#
- The top bar shows Building and the time so far while a build runs, and Your turn when Crisp waits for you: a question, a plan to review, a secret to add, or a request paused at its spending limit. Press it to go to the chat.
- On a phone, the Chat tab shows a spinner while a build runs and a dot when a new reply came in. The Preview tab shows a dot when the app changed and you have not looked yet.
- When you hide the chat on a large screen, a small label over the preview shows the same, and brings the chat back when you press it.
On another tab#
When a build ends while you are on another tab, the tab title changes and the small icon of the tab gets a coloured dot:
| Tab title | Dot | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Building · your project | none | The build is still running. |
| Done · your project | green | The build finished. Have a look. |
| Your turn · your project | amber | Crisp waits for your answer before it goes on. |
| Stopped · your project | red | The build stopped before it finished. Open it to see why. |
The title and the icon go back to normal as soon as you come back to the tab. If you stop a build yourself, nothing changes.
A notification or a sound#
Crisp can also show a notification on your computer or phone, or play a short sound, when a build ends on another tab. Both are off until you turn them on:
- In a project, open More (the three dots in the top bar) and choose Notifications. While a build runs, the chat also offers Notify me when it is done.
- Turn on Show a notification. Your browser asks once whether Crisp may show notifications: choose Allow.
- Turn on Play a sound if you want one. You hear it once, so you know what it sounds like.
These choices are saved in this browser only. On another computer or browser, turn them on there too. Crisp never asks your browser for notifications unless you turn them on here.
By email, when the project is closed#
When a build takes more than 3 minutes and the project is not open in any browser when it ends, Crisp sends you one short email: your app is ready, it needs your answer, or it stopped. The email has a button that opens the project. It never contains your code or error messages.
- At most one email per project every 30 minutes.
- To turn these emails off, open the account menu, choose Settings, clear Email me when a long build finishes, and press Save.
