Add sign-in for your users
Ask crisp to add sign-in and your app gets accounts with email and password, pages only signed-in people can see, and, if you want them, roles like admin. Sign-in with GitHub or Google needs keys from those services.
Updated
A new app has no sign-in, so anyone who opens it can use every page. Add sign-in when your app has private data, an admin area, or data that belongs to each person.
Add sign-in#
Click the Add sign-in suggestion in the chat when it appears, or describe what you need. Say who signs in and what they can do:
Add sign-in with email and password. Only signed-in people can add or edit bookings. Visitors can still see the schedule. I am the only admin, and only I can see the list of all bookings.
crisp adds pages to sign up, sign in and sign out, keeps the accounts in your app's database, and protects the pages and actions you named. Passwords are never stored as plain text.
Data that belongs to each person#
If each person should see only their own records, say so: "Each person sees only their own habits." crisp links each record to its owner, so people only see and change their own records. Check it in the preview with two accounts.
Roles#
For different kinds of users, name the roles and what each one can do: "Members can book classes. Coaches can also create classes. Admins can do everything."
Sign in with GitHub or Google#
Your app can also offer Sign in with GitHub or Sign in with Google. These need keys from GitHub or Google, which only you can create:
- Ask crisp: "Add sign in with Google."
-
crisp builds the button and tells you the names of the keys it needs, such as
AUTH_GOOGLE_IDandAUTH_GOOGLE_SECRET, and the address to register with Google. - Create the keys in Google's or GitHub's developer settings, then give them to crisp. See Give your app a key.
Until the keys are there, the button stays hidden and email sign-in keeps working.
Check it#
Try sign-in in the preview. Create an account, sign out, and sign in again. Open a private page while signed out and check that it asks you to sign in.
