An Emergent alternative: Crisp vs Emergent.

Emergent and Crisp both build web and phone apps from a description, with a database, sign-in and payments. This page puts them side by side, using what each one says on its own pages.

No credit card required. Facts checked October 2026.

The short version.

Emergent builds web apps and React Native phone apps on a MongoDB database, with its own sign-in, Stripe payments and a testing agent. It has plans that reach far higher usage than Crisp, and team features on its Business plans.

Crisp lets you publish an app on the Free plan, and keeping published apps online is part of the plan price, not a separate monthly charge per app. It counts usage in dollars at cost and tests every build in a real browser.

If you need a lot of usage every month, or team features today, look at Emergent. If you want to publish for free, keep the code on GitHub from day one, and read your costs in dollars, try Crisp.

Questions.

Is Crisp a good Emergent alternative?

Both build web and phone apps from a description, with a database, sign-in and Stripe. Crisp lets you publish on the Free plan and includes hosting in the plan price. Emergent offers much larger plans and team features.

Which is cheaper, Crisp or Emergent?

Both start at $20 a month: Emergent Standard with 100 credits, Crisp Pro with $12 of AI usage at cost. On Emergent, each published app also has a monthly hosting fee in credits. On Crisp, hosting is part of the plan.

Can I publish for free?

On Crisp, yes: the Free plan publishes 1 app on a Crisp address. Emergent's help center says production publishing is not on its free tier.

Can I move an Emergent project to Crisp?

Not directly. Crisp imports a GitHub repository only when the app is built the way Crisp builds apps. Describe the app to Crisp and it builds it from the start.

Who owns the code?

You do, with both. Emergent says you keep ownership of your content, including AI-written code. Crisp claims no ownership of what you build.
