A Bolt alternative: Crisp vs Bolt.

Bolt and Crisp both turn a description into a working app, and both can build native phone apps. This page puts them side by side, using what each one says on its own pages.

No credit card required. Facts checked October 2026.

The short version.

Bolt, from StackBlitz, has a generous free plan counted in tokens, Bolt Cloud for databases and hosting, Stripe payments, phone apps through Expo, and real-time collaboration.

Crisp counts usage in dollars at what the AI models cost, shows each request's cost as it runs, and tests every build in a real browser before it says it is done. It also has a Marketplace where people find the apps you publish.

If you want a token-based plan and team editing, Bolt fits well. If you want a cost you can read in dollars and a build that checks itself, try Crisp.

  • You want undo that brings back your data as well as your code.

Questions.

Is Crisp a good Bolt alternative?

If you want a build that tests itself and a cost you can read in dollars, yes. Both build web and native phone apps with a database, sign-in and Stripe payments. Bolt has real-time team editing and builds on Netlify and Supabase.

Which is cheaper, Crisp or Bolt?

Bolt Pro is $25 a month, from 10M tokens. Crisp Pro is $20 a month with $12 of AI usage at cost. Tokens and dollars are different units, so try the same small app on both free plans.

Can both build iPhone and Android apps?

Yes. Both build native apps with Expo. With Crisp you send them to the App Store and Google Play with your own developer accounts.

Can I move a Bolt project to Crisp?

Not directly. Crisp imports a GitHub repository only when the app is built the way Crisp builds apps. Describe the app to Crisp and it builds it from the start.

Who owns the code?

You do, with both. Bolt's maker assigns its rights in the output to you, and Crisp claims no ownership of what you build.
