A Replit alternative: Crisp vs Replit.

Replit and Crisp can both build and publish an app from a description. Replit is also a full coding workspace for developers. This page puts them side by side, using what each one says on its own pages.

No credit card required. Facts checked October 2026.

The short version.

Replit is a large platform for people who code as well as people who describe: its Agent builds apps with a PostgreSQL database, built-in sign-in, Stripe and phone apps through Expo, and Core includes seats for collaborators.

Crisp is made only for describing an app and getting it working. Usage is counted in dollars at cost with a live meter, hosting is part of the plan price, every build is tested in a real browser, and payments work on the Free plan.

If you write code yourself or work in a team, Replit gives you more. If you want an app without touching code, and a cost you can predict, try Crisp.

What Replit Crisp
Free plan Starter: daily Agent credits up to a monthly cap, and 1 published app that goes down after 30 days. Lite build only, and no Stripe or other connectors. [2] Yes. $3 of AI usage a month, up to 3 projects, and 1 published app on a Crisp address. No credit card. Crisp pricing
First paid plan Core, $20 a month billed monthly ($18 a month billed yearly), with $20 toward more powerful models. [1] Pro, $20 a month, with $12 of AI usage, 10 published apps and your own domain. Max is $100 a month. Crisp pricing
How usage is charged Effort-based: one checkpoint per request, priced by the work it took. Monthly credits do not roll over on Core. Credit packs expire after six months. [3] [4] [5] In dollars, at what the AI models cost Crisp, with nothing added. A live meter shows each request's cost, and each request stops at a limit you set ($2 by default). Fixing its own mistakes in the same request is not charged. Top-ups from $10 never expire. Usage and billing
Web and mobile apps Web apps, and native iPhone and Android apps with Expo, with a built-in upload to App Store Connect. [6] [7] Web apps, and native iPhone and Android apps built with Expo and React Native. You send a mobile app to the App Store and Google Play with your own developer accounts. Mobile apps
Database A PostgreSQL database in every app. [8] Every project gets its own database, filled with sample records. See and edit every record in the Data tab, and download it. Your app's data
Sign-in for your users Built-in sign-in, with Clerk or Replit Auth. [9] Email and password sign-up and sign-in, roles, and Sign in with GitHub or Google with your own keys. Add sign-in
Payments One-click Stripe, starting in a Stripe sandbox. Paid plans only. [10] Stripe on every plan, connected per project, with test payments in the preview. Razorpay or Polar on request. Take payments
Testing before it says done App Testing uses the app in a real browser and fixes what it finds. It does not run on every message, and covers full-stack JavaScript and Streamlit Python web apps. [11] Yes. A separate tester opens the app in a real browser, uses it like a person, and checks phone width and the dark theme. Crisp fixes what fails before it says it is done. How a build works
Publishing and your own domain Publish to a replit.app address. Hosting is charged by use from your credits. Your own domain is free from Replit; you pay your domain provider. [5] [12] Every plan publishes to a Crisp address. Your own domain on Pro (1) and Max (up to 10). A security check runs before each publish. Use your own domain
Code and GitHub Git and GitHub built in, including a one-click push. [13] Read and edit every file in the Code tab. Export to your own GitHub repository and keep it in sync, on every plan, Free included. GitHub
Gallery or marketplace A community gallery of apps and templates you can copy. [14] A Marketplace of apps made with Crisp. Listing costs $9 once, refunded if the app is not accepted. Copies only if you turn them on. List your app

  • You work with other people: Core includes seats for collaborators.
  • You want your own domain without a paid plan from the builder.

When to choose Crisp

  • You want to take payments and keep your published app online on the Free plan.
  • You want hosting included in the plan price, not charged by use.
  • You want every build tested in a real browser, at phone width and in the dark theme, before it is called done.
  • You want to see each request's cost in dollars as it runs, with a limit you set.
  • You want undo that brings back your data as well as your code.

Questions.

Is Crisp a good Replit alternative?

For people who do not code, often yes: Crisp is made only for describing an app and getting it working, and checks each build in a real browser. For developers, Replit offers a full coding workspace and team seats that Crisp does not.

Which is cheaper, Crisp or Replit?

Both start at $20 a month. Replit Core includes $20 toward AI models and charges hosting by use from your credits. Crisp Pro includes $12 of AI usage at cost, with hosting part of the plan.

Does the free app stay online?

On Crisp, yes: the Free plan keeps 1 published app online. Replit's docs say the free Starter app goes down after 30 days.

Can both build iPhone and Android apps?

Yes. Both build native apps with Expo. With Crisp you send them to the App Store and Google Play with your own developer accounts.

Can I move a Replit app to Crisp?

Not directly. Crisp imports a GitHub repository only when the app is built the way Crisp builds apps. Describe the app to Crisp and it builds it from the start.
