A Base44 alternative: Crisp vs Base44.
Base44 and Crisp both build a complete app from a description, with a database and sign-in included. This page puts them side by side, using what each one says on its own pages.
No credit card required. Facts checked October 2026.
The short version.
Base44 includes a backend, a database and sign-in on every plan, plus integration credits that let your app send email, make images and call AI models without keys of your own. Team editing is on every plan, and its Launchpad shows off apps people made.
Crisp includes Stripe payments and GitHub sync on every plan, Free included, builds native iPhone and Android apps, and tests every build in a real browser before it says it is done.
If you want built-in services with no keys to set up, or you build as a team, Base44 is strong. If you want payments, your code on GitHub and a native phone app without a higher plan, try Crisp.

| What | Base44 | Crisp |
|---|---|---|
| Free plan | Yes. 25 message credits a month (up to 5 a day) and 100 integration credits a month, up to 5 apps, with sign-in and a database. [1] [2] | Yes. $3 of AI usage a month, up to 3 projects, and 1 published app on a Crisp address. No credit card. Crisp pricing |
| First paid plan | Starter, $20 a month billed monthly ($16 a month billed yearly), with 100 message credits and 2,000 integration credits. [1] | Pro, $20 a month, with $12 of AI usage, 10 published apps and your own domain. Max is $100 a month. Crisp pricing |
| How usage is charged | Two kinds of credit: message credits for building, and integration credits when your app uses built-in services such as email, images or AI calls. Unused credits expire when they reset. [2] | In dollars, at what the AI models cost Crisp, with nothing added. A live meter shows each request's cost, and each request stops at a limit you set ($2 by default). Fixing its own mistakes in the same request is not charged. Top-ups from $10 never expire. Usage and billing |
| Web and mobile apps | Web apps. For the app stores, your published web app runs inside a native wrapper. Downloading the store files needs the Builder plan or higher. [3] | Web apps, and native iPhone and Android apps built with Expo and React Native. You send a mobile app to the App Store and Google Play with your own developer accounts. Mobile apps |
| Database | A built-in backend and database on every plan. [1] | Every project gets its own database, filled with sample records. See and edit every record in the Data tab, and download it. Your app's data |
| Sign-in for your users | Built-in login pages in every new app. Your own Google sign-in setup needs Builder or higher. [4] | Email and password sign-up and sign-in, roles, and Sign in with GitHub or Google with your own keys. Add sign-in |
| Payments | Stripe, on the Builder plan ($50 a month) and above. [5] [1] | Stripe on every plan, connected per project, with test payments in the preview. Razorpay or Polar on request. Take payments |
| Testing before it says done | A testing agent opens a real browser and follows a flow like a user. You start it yourself, on any plan, and its runs use credits. [6] | Yes. A separate tester opens the app in a real browser, uses it like a person, and checks phone width and the dark theme. Crisp fixes what fails before it says it is done. How a build works |
| Publishing and your own domain | Every app gets a base44.app address. Your own domain on Starter and higher. [7] | Every plan publishes to a Crisp address. Your own domain on Pro (1) and Max (up to 10). A security check runs before each publish. Use your own domain |
| Code and GitHub | In-app code edits on Starter. Two-way GitHub sync on Builder or higher. [1] [8] | Read and edit every file in the Code tab. Export to your own GitHub repository and keep it in sync, on every plan, Free included. GitHub |
| Who owns the code | Base44's terms say you own the code and the apps it makes. [9] | You own your prompts, the code, the data and the app. Crisp claims no ownership. What belongs to you |
| Gallery or marketplace | A template marketplace, where you can share templates with the community for free, and Launchpad, a showcase where top apps can win credits. [10] [11] | A Marketplace of apps made with Crisp. Listing costs $9 once, refunded if the app is not accepted. Copies only if you turn them on. List your app |
